PayPal withdrawals: percentage, minimum, cap and net amount
A withdrawal moves an existing balance to a bank or card. Choose the route for your account, then subtract the applicable transfer fee from the amount debited. Commercial-payment processing and currency conversion belong to separate stages.
Inputs used by this calculator
PayPal Withdrawal Fee Calculator uses the fields below. The starting values reproduce the page example; replace them with values from the same units and time period before using the result.

Start with the balance available to transfer
Enter the amount you plan to debit from PayPal, after any earlier payment-processing or conversion costs. This avoids applying a withdrawal percentage to money that has already been deducted. The main answer is the modeled bank or card receipt.
The presets identify US personal accounts explicitly. For a business account or another country, use a current custom quote. A product's availability is not established by selecting it in a calculator.
Apply the percentage and its bounds
Calculate the percentage fee first, then apply a stated minimum and cap. A minimum dominates small transfers; a cap dominates sufficiently large transfers. In custom mode, zero in the maximum field means no cap was entered.
For the personal-account reference, instant bank and eligible debit-card transfers cost 1.75% with a USD 0.25 minimum and USD 25 maximum. Standard eligible bank transfers have no PayPal withdrawal fee when no conversion is involved.
Bounded fee = min(max(round(amount × rate), minimum), maximum)Follow the USD 1,000 example
Multiply USD 1,000 by 0.0175 to obtain USD 17.50. This is above USD 0.25 and below USD 25, so the percentage amount applies. Subtracting 17.50 leaves USD 982.50.
At USD 2,000, the percentage calculation would be USD 35, but the capped fee is USD 25. The estimated receipt is therefore USD 1,975.00. That cap applies per transfer under the listed reference.
Do not confuse a fee cap with a transfer limit
A cap limits the charge, not the amount you are allowed to send. The listed US personal instant-bank ceiling is USD 25,000 per transaction; cards list USD 5,000 per transaction and per day, plus weekly and monthly ceilings. Your own available limits may be lower.
This tool rejects an amount above the supported preset's per-transfer ceiling. It does not keep a transaction history to assess daily, weekly or monthly use, so a passing estimate is not an eligibility decision.
Compare standard and instant costs
Run the same amount under the standard and instant reference to identify the modeled fee difference. Consider your need for access to the funds and read the transfer screen's estimated timing. This tool does not promise a particular arrival time.
A receiving bank, card issuer or conversion route can add a cost not included in the withdrawal fee. Compare total costs in the same currency, and distinguish a separately charged fee from one already reflected in an exchange rate.
Check a custom route before using the number
Copy the route's percentage, minimum and maximum from a current quote. Confirm whether a fixed charge, tax or tier also applies; such a tariff may not fit this bounded-percentage model. The tool rejects a modeled fee greater than the transfer amount.
A zero transfer represents no transfer, with zero modeled fee. For any positive amount, the minimum can apply. The result breakdown states which bound determined the fee so you can reproduce the arithmetic.

Frequently asked questions
Does a standard withdrawal always cost nothing?
The preset describes an eligible US personal-account bank transfer without conversion. Other accounts, routes, banks or conversion steps can differ.
Why is a USD 10 instant transfer charged USD 0.25?
The calculated percentage is below the listed minimum, so the minimum applies.
Why does the fee stop at USD 25?
That is the maximum per-transfer fee in the selected US personal-account reference. It is not a universal maximum for every PayPal product.
Can a business account use the personal preset?
No. Use the business fee schedule and custom inputs only if it fits the model.
Does the calculator verify my withdrawal limits?
It checks the listed per-transfer ceiling for the preset. It cannot read your account or measure cumulative daily, weekly or monthly withdrawals.
Is currency conversion included?
No. Use the conversion calculator with your final quote and account for that stage separately.
What to keep in mind
Reference presets apply to US personal accounts in USD without conversion, not business accounts or other markets. Eligibility and lower account limits can affect availability. Custom mode models a percentage fee with minimum and optional maximum, not every possible tariff.
Results use the selected currency: cents for most currencies, whole units for JPY and CLP. Processing fees are rounded per payment. CSV exports include the entered assumptions and the calculation breakdown. This is a calculation summary, not an official certificate.
