Army body fat calculator updated for the 2026 WHtR standard

Enter height and waist circumference at the navel. HitEquals reports waist-to-height ratio to three decimals and compares it with the Army's current below-0.55 benchmark; former body-fat equations appear only as historical context.

Current Army standard

Army Directive 2026-13 made waist-to-height ratio the sole body-composition assessment. Official Army guidance says previous circumference body-fat methods were rescinded.

Waist-to-height formula

Measure waist at the navel and use the same unit for waist and height. The units cancel, leaving a ratio recorded to three decimals.

WHtR=waist÷heightcurrent benchmark: WHtR<0.55

Worked current example

For 36 inches at the waist and 70 inches of height, 36÷70=0.514. The display compares the unrounded ratio with 0.55.

Why a legacy estimate is still shown

People continue to search for the former Army body-fat calculator. The page reports that historical percentage separately so old records can be understood without presenting it as current compliance.

Measurement and confirmation

Official Army reporting says a result of 0.55 or greater receives a same-day confirmation test. Authorized measurement, recording and implementation rules come from the current directive.

Health interpretation

WHtR is an administrative health-screening measure, not a diagnosis or direct scan of body composition. Clinical concerns require appropriate professional assessment.

Frequently asked questions

What is the current Army benchmark?

The waist-to-height ratio must be below 0.55 under the cited 2026 policy.

Does sex change the current ratio?

No. Current WHtR is waist divided by height for all Soldiers.

Can I enter centimeters?

Yes. Use the same unit for waist and height.

Why are neck and hip still available?

They produce a labeled historical comparison with the superseded equation.

Does this determine official status?

No. Authorized measurement, confirmation and recording procedures control.

Is WHtR a body-fat percentage?

No. It is a circumference-to-height ratio, not percent body fat.

What to keep in mind

Army Directive 2026-13 replaced previous height/weight tables, tape-test body-fat equations and supplemental methods with WHtR in July 2026. Use the current directive and authorized procedure for personnel decisions.
